About Our Organization

The GLASS ARTISTS OF COLORADO was established in 1979 under the name Glass Artists Fellowship. We have just celebrated our 40th year. The group serves as a forum for the glass artists throughout Colorado. Its purpose is to create opportunities for education, sharing, promotion and friendship.

This purpose has been and continues to be accomplished with interesting monthly educational meetings, artists slideshows, demonstrations, sharing information, seminars, workshops, guest lecturers, and field trips. This all to experience the varied techniques and art being produced in glass today.

Originally, the majority of members were stained glass artists. But over the years, the membership has grown and evolved to reflect the dynamic nature of art glass. Our members now include artists in all techniques of cold, warm, and hot glass. Add to this the unique and individual styles of our members, and you get a diversity beyond rival.

With the closing of most, if not all, of the retail and teaching shops in Colorado, clubs, like ours, are a necessity to keep the glass artists in our area involved and informed about the outside glass community and give support to this medium. D & L Art Glass Supply has stepped up and offered, not only wholesale, but, now, retail material and equipment sales. They have also opened their teaching studio to the public, offering a variety of beginning, as well as advanced classes.

Others, will evidentially follow, but we must keep the glass population healthy until that happens. This current project, The Morgan Adams Project, as well as our bi-annual support to the Beads Of Courage, provide us an opportunity to come together, share, and focus on the community.
